finally quiet time

but alas, I have not done much. I had planned to convert my No3 Box Brownie to use the less rare 70mm film. I would love to source 3 1/4inch film but without hacking the camera to pieces to convert to sheet film, this is the next best thing.

Getting film for my No3 Brownie (theory works for 120 in a 116 camera)

I did got out to finsih the film in the No1-A folding camera, but stupdily I left it set at f/64 **Headsmack** so we shall see. Least I get another backingpaper so not all it lost. I will be able to re-spool this to 70mm as well. YAY Least its colour film.

Tired and have a doctor's appointment so off to bed not finshing anything today.

My kodak 1-a and the film I just pulled out of it :-)

its been hard to write

I have even struggle to write in my paper diary, and no, thats not a real personal diary but seems to be morphing into one.. Hmmm.

Well I have taken Cameras out and I have done a shoot. It was pouring with rain. Pouring. BUT Connie was bored being stuck in my shit hole of a house so with the wind and rain, It dawned on my that Kiama blowholes would be going off.

David took us to the lookout, where we got rained on, then HAILED on. :-( Hmmm we hid in the cafe.

Connie hiding from the rain

Heading to Kiama, we saw that the safe Kiama harbour had large waves in it. Lost of surfers now in the normally calm harbour. Well the seas were amazing. We were correct, the blowhole was blowing High spouts of water. Within a second of arriving, my Mamiya and I were drenched in sea water. Awesome, and having to quickly cover the camera with my jacket, I missed the shot. Ah well.

Kiama Lighthouse

Off to the little blowhole for more photography this time with the T80.
At Kiama Blow Hole

Water spouts
Not much else.

I actually have three days off. That two whole days and two half days.

Polaroid 101 is now Fully functional. :-) I got this terrific photo of Connie and David. I gave the original to Connie.
People LOVE getting a polaroid.
David and Connie

Met a man in the airport. He called out to us about the Box Brownie on my table, I had only just pulled it out. :-) I ended up having a chat to him about the Brownie and he told me about getting one as a child. He was very happy and I grabbed the Polaoroid 101 to take his photo but alas it was back lit. Damn it!! Still he loved getting a polaroid and even though this was just a shadowy figure..

Least I made someone's day. :-)

oooo over a week I am getting bad..

Sorry Y'all.. Mind you I think my only follower will notice when she returns from the UK . HI CHRISSIE

ANYWAY

I received a Hawkeye Ace Deluxe ooo the deluxe.. you say..
Well the little information in the net ias the same crap regurgitated over and over.. But no one has looked into it. Well I was inclined to believe the references to this camera being made in one year 1938 until one lady has har Grandmother's one in its postal packaging and it is post marked 1937. soooo It was made in at least two years.

It was made in the Harrow Factory in the UK ONLY and was given away with comics

The mighty hawkeye ace deluxe!! 1937/8 mini camera made in the UK.

It had a card box and the rest s the shutter assembly mounted to wood.

The mighty hawkeye ace deluxe!! 1937/8 these cameras were mostly promotion

Kodak had these as premium line cameras and hence alost no records were kept, at least they didn't appear in catalogues.
I have no idea of the aperture or the shutter speed and it seems no one else does either SOOOO As it is a box camera made by Kodak, I will make te assumption of f/13 (Although the hole looks small) and a shutter speed of 1/30th. I have put a Efke 100 film in so lets work with that.

Time to load up this bad boy... #mini #film #boxcamera #filmcamera #kodak #camera #film #cameraporn

Oh and it has these fancy film guide rails... Snazzy..

Oh and the deluxe? Means I got lugs for my camera strap. YAY!! There were 4 models two with smooth faces and two with rough faces.

the base model (haha) Smooth face and no lugs = Baby Hawkeye
Next up with textured face & No lugs = Hawkeye Ace
the deluxe models were
Smooth face & lugs = Hawkeye
And textured face = Hawkeye Ace deluxe.

The next Box Brownie comes from the UK (As I prefer UK boxes)

This is similar to Orangetim's Box Brownie Model D but his is much older. (1946-1953)
the second type of Model D this one was made from 1953-1957. This model has flash contacts, a striped enamel face and triangular catch at the back Also a tripod mount but not all of this model have a tripod mount

Box brownie model D (Type 2)

Model F

Produced in 1955-1957 (2 years)

Deluxe "Sporty" version of the Model E, it has (As you can see) Tan covering and bras trim. Essentially the same as the Model E

Both are F/11

Box brownie model F

the last one is the Kodak 44A
A plastic camera built between 1959 and 1966, it takes 12 44mm square pictures and this is where the camera gets its name. There was a 44B but this was produced for three years only and in conjunction with the 44A. (sigh why really??)
The 44A had a hard plastic cover (Which annoys me)
It was the first camera to employ a plastic taking lens from Combined Optical Industries Ltd,using "Perspex". Only two stops numbered 12 and 13, to allow some degree of control over the exposure. BUT you can only use during the day :-( I got this camera from Ebay and it has film in it which I am using up to develop. We shall see if the film wasn't exposed before being sent to me.

Randomness

I have been following the discussion on the flickr caffenol group and they have been arguing about salf the type what to use and what is forbidden etc.. Geez guys mellow out. Plus all they have done is totally confuse me. I know MY recipie works and the one from Reinhold's blog works (well all of his works ) but the other arsehats? Well one guy claims to have invented or copywrited a name FFS. ANYWAY I think I wil unfollow that group. Talk about being anal about stuff. I thought I understood the process and had a good idea of times but now I am not so sure.

Got a lost from from Vision image and Tim's E-6 film. My credit card refused to pay for my two E-6 films so they had to stay behind but i'll get them next fortnight.
I picked up @orangetim 's slide film heeheehee #film #filmporn #boxbrownie #slide #E-6
Tim's photos taken with his Kodak BoX brownie model C

The 127 lost film yielded one photo.
Mystery Film.

I received the Land camera from the FIlm Photography podcast but the only film I had was 1500 sepia and this just doesn't work in this camera. The 101 only had two settings 100 and 3000 and the sepia is 1500. If I choose 100 I blow out the film and if I choose 3000 its black for underdeveloped. Damn I was all excited but its a no go. I wonder what camera I can use the 1500 sepia in. Ideas??

A stereographic camera arrived from the lovely people at Holga Direct. They tested it before posting it as I have had it with Lomography cameras. You will remember that I didn't like the holga last time and sold it. But this is the only affordable stereographic camera on the market.
My 2nd real holga. The original 120 holga & I did not agree & I sold it. This one is because I can't afford an antique stereoscopic camera.
The customer service from Holga direct is awesome. I do recommend them (And beg for a discount..if you are on twitter but shhh)

Developed three lost films, All blank. But my developer worked wonderfully. That is 6 films in the one batch of caffenol. So not a total loss. beats paying $10 r roll to get blank rolls back.

Been playing with the T50 as the AE-1 is in hospital.

Well may as well make use of the camera.. #t50 #canon #cameraporn #camera #vintagecamera #filmcamera #agfa #Lens
I miss the AE_1P and it looks like it will have to stay with the repair man for ages until my electricty is paid off.
Fucking great. If you don't hear from me again, you know why. (but most likely won't care) oh well it's been fun

yes you read that. No power for me. **Sigh** This is so depressing I cannot start to tell you. I just cry in the futility of it all. Better to sell my house and move home. I am such a fail right now.

Tomorrow is the closest weekend to 620 day and I am not feeling the excitement I had. I want to shoot 620 but my frame of mind it too dark to shoot anything worthy.

Maybe use the big red No2 #Box #brownie red. These came out in blue, brown, gray, green or Red. Made from 1929-1933 at a cost of $3 cardboard body with metal cad but then I realised I can't as it is 120 not 620.. Hmmm The tourist?

fuck it I'm going to bed whilst I have power for an electric blanket.

Success!

Well.. I think so.
Today I was trawling for film format info when I stumbled upon a PDF that was talking about converting 120rolls to fit a 116 folding camera. The PDF was a little hard core using vices and washers and drilling flanges etc but in amongst all this was a pearl. He was talking about the 116 being longer, thinner than 120 but the flange on the 120 is bigger so he snipped the flange down using nail clippers. Ooooooo 120 is the same length as 620 but the flange is bigger and the core is thicker but the film is the same. Sooooooo if I clip the flanges of the 120 spool, it MAY work as a take up spool for the Box brownie flash II.
I discussed it with David and he agreed it may work with nail clippers. So I found some and got a spare 120 spool. Clipping the edge off, I slotted into the clipped spool into the small take up spool space. It fit!!!! Before it didn't fit at all and the 120 was too tight for the film unload space as well. But now it sat beautifully. Now to load a film and test.

Now will it all jam up when all the film gathers on the bottom roll or will it work.
I loaded the film and set off for maccas. I played with the camera in the dark, most exposures will be shaky, some or most underexposed but I don't care. I was testing the way the film moved in the camera and the performance of the Franken spool
The film progressed nicely through the roll and I came to the end of 8 exposures WIN!!! I didn't make it to 8 withe the first roll. It got well and truly stuck at 6 and that was the end of it.
I am extremely happy that this camera is for the most part, fully functioning and I don't have to buy 620 spools or special re-spooled 620 film. Yay!!!

Next to source 124 or 116 spools or film.
